Welcome to They're Our Kids!

According to the National Parent Teacher Association, parental involvement in their children's education benefits students in the following ways:

  • Higher grades, test scores, and graduation rates
  • Better school attendance
  • Increased motivation and better self-esteem
  • Lower rates of suspension
  • Decreased use of alcohol and drugs
  • Fewer instances of violent behavior
  • Greater enrollment in postsecondary education

Parents also benefit from being involved.  Communication and relations with children and teachers improve.  Self-esteem goes up.  Education level and skills increase.  Decision-making skills become stronger.  And attitude toward schools and school personnel improves.

They're Our Kids provides a compilation of links to resources to assist parents of children in Hendricks County, Indiana.  Parental involvement is vital in the development and success of our children, so please utilize and enjoy the links to local public school corporations, schools, libraries, clubs, parks, athletic organizations, and ways you can be involved in the success of our children.

They're our kids!

This website began as the efforts of Jan Currier, Eric Ivie, Gus Pearcy, and Richard Sutton as their 2006 Leadership Hendricks County group project.

Many others have joined the cause and continue to help us develop our resource.
