I would like to know what can be done for the little girls whose daddys have decided to leave the picture? When flyers have been sent home and my little girl hands it to me with tears in her eyes, how am I supposed to ease her Broken heart? I have thought about this many times and how about putting it out there as a parent-child, or parent-daughter, parent-son event?

Jackie, I'm so sorry to hear that your daughter's father is not in her life. But I *am* glad to see that you're a Villager!

When I was researching events for this blog post, I noticed that Plainfield Parks & Recreation's latest newsletter stated, in regards to their two dances, that "[t]hough the event is known as the 'Daddy/Daughter Dance,' the Parks Department recognizes the need to be flexible with the reality of today's blended families. Any adult may purchase tickets to escort their 'daughter' to the event."

The Kiwanis Club of Danville's event extends the invitation to fathers, grandfathers or any other significant adult male figures in the girls' lives. So step-parents, uncles, boyfriends, adult brothers, family friends, etc. And as a member of that Kiwanis club and an annual attender of their dance, I can't imagine that anyone would care if a mom brought her daughter.

The object of all of these events is to show the kids a nice evening where they have fun. I think who brings the kids to the event isn't nearly as important as the kids having a good time.

I hope that helps, and THANK YOU for being a Villager and following They're Our Kids!
