The annual Danville Winter Festival will take place this Saturday, Feb. 22 from 2-7 p.m. at Danville South Elementary School, providing kids with a fun afternoon of games and activities while adults enjoy an opportunity to visit some local vendors and eat some great food.

Wristbands for children are $12 a piece at the door. Admission for adults is free.

For the kids, there will be bounce houses, an inflatable slide, games, a velcro wall, activities, an inflatable obstacle course, a cake walk and more.

We take our girls to this event every year, and they always have a blast. It's a perfect way to get them out of the house and let them run around and burn off some energy, and they love the little prizes they can earn at each game station.

For the adults, the Danville Winter Festival features an area full of vendors such as Oberweis Dairy, SpinalCare Physical Medicine, Scentsy, Party Lite, It Works!, Danville Girls Softball Association and more.

There will be a silent auction with some really cool items up for grabs (four one-day Hopper passes to Disney World in Orlando, an American Girl doll, and a birthday party at Hoosier Gymnastics are just some of the items, I'm told), and there will also be a raffle for a variety of items donated by local businesses.

Diggity Gourmet Dawgs will be on-hand to sell hot dogs and nachos to hungry fair-goers, and they'll be donating 10 percent of their sales to the Danville Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), too!

The Danville Winter Festival serves as the largest fundraiser for the Danville Elementary PTO, providing them with funds to donate to the teachers, aides and staff members of Danville North and South Elementary Schools for classroom supplies, recess cart equipment, electronic devices for classrooms, and other requested items.

So come on out to Danville South Elementary School on Saturday from 2-7 p.m. and enjoy a fun-filled day with the family while doing a great thing for the community!

(Danville South Elementary is located at 1375 W. Lincoln Street in Danville.)
