Easter Egg Hunts in Hendricks County for 2016

This year, Easter falls on Sunday, March 27, 2016, and many organizations throughout Hendricks County offer Easter egg hunts and other activities for OUR KIDS during the month of March.

Here is a list of Easter egg hunts and activities that I know of that are taking place within Hendricks County for 2016.

As always, if I have overlooked an event that you know of, please contact me and let me know so that I can add it to the list!

Downtown Danville:  Starting Monday 3-7-2016, there will be Easter eggs hidden around the Downtown Danville square! Each egg will have a small Easter treat and a coupon for a local Danville business. Eggs will stay out till found - weather permitting, however participating business will have eggs hidden INSIDE their businesses as well! Participating businesses include : Bread Basket Cafe & Bakery, Confection Delights, D's Cleaners, ART by Melissa Cain, Seize The Night Designs, The Watermelon Patch, and Wright Realtors.

Washington Township Park (Avon) Sensory Easter Egg Hunt:  An Easter Egg Hunt designed to give children a chance to hunt for Easter eggs in a more controlled and quiet setting. Each age group will have a different start time and only 5 children will go in each group. This event is free, but registration is required.

Danville Public Library (Danville):  Our stacks are always filled with books....now they're filled with Easter eggs too! Children ages 2-9 are invited to an Easter egg hunt at the Library from 10-11 a.m.! Children will have time to visit with the Easter Bunny and make a craft. Please register by clicking here.

West Pines Baptist Church (Avon) will be having an Easter Egg Hunt on March 19 at 10:30 am.

Arbuckle Acres (Brownsburg):  Grab your baskets and hop on over for the 2016 Easter egg hunt. The Easter Bunny has filled his eggs with lots of candy and prizes for boys and girls ages 0-12. Come early to get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny for FREE! Pictures start at 9:30 a.m. and the egg hunt begins at 11 a.m. sharp!

The Well.Community (Brownsburg):  Three separate Easter egg hunts for kids with special needs. 3 p.m. - Magnetic Egg Hunt: Eggs have magnets in them. Kids are given poles with magnets on the end so that children in wheelchairs or gait trainers can pick up eggs. 4 p.m. - Quiet Egg Hunt: Perfect for kids with Autism or sensory processing needs, the egg hunt is quiet with little stimulation. 5 p.m. - General Egg Hunt: Children who can hunt unassisted but have developmental delays. NO AGE LIMIT. Each hunt will have a raffle for parents and a prize table if kids would like to turn in their candy. Washington Township Park (Avon):  Easter egg hunt hosted by Avon Optimist Club and Washington Township Parks and Recreation from 10 to 11 a.m.

Phi Beta Psi Easter Egg Hunt (Pittsboro):  Please join us for our annual Easter egg hunt in Scamahorn Park at 10 a.m. The Easter Bunny will be our special guest. Bring your cameras and get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny.

Our Shepherd Lutheran Church and School (Avon):  Our church and school will have our annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 26 from 10am - Noon! Families who join us will learn about the stations of the cross, enjoy fun bounce houses, and of course - hunt for Easter Eggs! Open to the public. For more information, click here.

Crossroads Church (Avon):  Come have some Easter Fun at Crossroads Church of Avon. Watch as thousands of eggs drop from the sky to celebrate this spring holiday. Over 10,000 eggs will be up for grabs for kids ages 2 to 10. They'll also be able to jump on crazy bounce houses, get their faces painted, and take pictures with the Easter Bunny himself! Don't miss this amazing family event! Doors open at 10am.

Parents: The helicopter drops the eggs right at 10:30 and the egg hunt will immediately follow. You'll want to be there early for your kids to participate. Once the kids hear "Go" all the eggs will be gone in around 30 seconds, so you can't afford to be a minute late!

Age groupings for kids are:
  • 2-3 years old
  • 4-6 years old
  • 7-10 years old

Hope Community Church (Brownsburg):  THOUSANDS of EGGS! Easter Egg Hunt at Hope Community Church in Brownsburg. Drawings for several family and children gift baskets. All children 11 years old and under are welcome to hunt. Doors open at 10:00 and event starts at 10:30 am. Bring the family! For more information: 317-852-2616.

​Splash Island Indoor Aquatic Center (Plainfield):  This year's Happy Easter Eggstravaganza will be from 10 a.m. to noon at Splash Island. Enjoy a fun and eventful day at the Plainfield Recreation and Aquatic Center, hunting for Easter eggs underwater! Egg hunt times:  5 and under at 11 a.m., 6 to 10 at 11:15 a.m., 11 and older at 11:30 a.m. Hosted by Plainfield Parks and Recreation.

McCloud Nature Park (North Salem):  11 a.m. to 3 p.m. An egg hunt like only our Naturalists can provide- fun, educational and nature-focused. Hidden along two different trails for different ages will be camouflaged eggs with clues hidden inside. Each egg will help you answer a nature question on your scavenger hunt sheet. Find all of the answers and turn in your worksheet to the nature center to claim your prize! There will also be themed crafts and snacks for kids to enjoy.

Venture Church (Lizton): 1 p.m. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. Fun for kids with special speaker then prizes, Easter egg hunt per age groups (1-5th grade) then indoor carnival games and outdoor games, weather permitting. 503 S. State St Lizton, IN. (317) 362-5428. All free.

Ellis Park (Danville):  Over 6,000 eggs filled with candy and prizes. Free photos with the Easter Bunny begin at 1:30 p.m. Easter Egg hunt begins at 2 p.m. Separate egg hunt area will be set up for children with special needs from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Rubber Ducky Race immediately following the Easter Egg hunt. Hunt sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Danville and Danville Parks & Recreation.
